Meet Edward

I draw my inspiration & creativity from old-school movies

Edward Underwood is a wedding/lifestyle and design photographer who currently resides in Washington, DC.  He grew up in the District where he discovered his interest in photography while contemplating law school.  After studying in North Carolina, he later moved back to DC working as a financial analyst before making a career as a photographer.

His work has been beautifully displayed in Washingtonian Magazine, Baltimore Weddings Magazine, Richmond Brides Magazine, Munaluchi Bridal, Black Enterprise, Home & Design Magazine, The Washington Post, and The New York Times.

Edward and his wife Shawna own The Underwood Collective, which encompasses photography and interior design. Together with their sons Preston and Chase, they travel far and wide to gain photography and design influences. In the process, their bonds with each other becomes stronger.

My Vision & Philosophy

I think that beauty shows up best when captured candidly, in a non-obtrusive way. I observe before clicking on the shutter button. It's important for to connect with you as people, to understand who you are and how you express your feelings. The best portraits come to life when the photographer actually sees the real you, no judgement, no personal agenda.

We go places, and connect with our couples.
